An Analysis of slang words found in album best song vol.1 lyrics by ed sheeran

ABSTRACT
This thesis is entitled Analysis of Slang Words Found in the Best Song Lyrics Vol.1 by Ed Sheeran. This study discusses the slang words used in Ed Sheeran's song lyrics. The research design of this research is descriptive qualitative. In this study, the author uses the theory of slang words by Pertridge (2004:204) and the word formation process by Yule (1986) in his book "study of language" is used to analyze the process of forming each slang word. In detail, this research statement answers two research problems: (1) what types of slang words are used by Ed Sheeran in the lyrics, (2) what are the types of word formation. This research tries to find and identify slang words in Ed Sheeran's song lyrics,tagging, and analyzing, slang words. The results showed that there were two types of words slang in addition to those found, namely : society slang, public house slang.And there are five slang words found in the lyrics of the song are: wanna, yeah, man, ain't,gonna, baby. While from the types of words formation, there are six types of word formation found in the song lyrics: compounding, blending, clipping, backformantion, derivation, prefixes and suffix. “cuz”, for example the lyrics “Because we are just kids when we fall in love”. The term "Cause" or "Cuz" is considered a truncated word because it originally came from the word "Because" which was reduced to the shorter form "Cuz". slang words and clippings of the alphabet “g” in the last word, which is called “G clipping.
