A Semantic analysis on associative meaning of traditional poetries in Tetun Language at Malaka Regency
ABSTRACT
This research entitles A semantic analysis on associtive meaning of traditional poetries in Tetun language at Malaka regency. The purpose of this research is to find out the types of associative meaning, and the function of each types of associative meaning of traditional poetry in Tetun language at Malaka regency. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative method. The theory used in the research was the theory of associative meaning by Leech in semantic study of meaning. The result five types of associative meaning, there are 1. connocative meaning, Silu nola lain ida nodi namina ama wehali nain wehali nodimina ina wehali, 2. Social meaning, Ami ata fafudi ne kwer e lale ,3. Affective meaning, neon fo ba malu , 4. Rerflective meaning, Len nu loro foin taba and 5. Collocative meaning, lia diak. The function of connocative The word means is because they are usually defined conceptually which have features in real world. The word here show the real word of king. The function of social meaning is to show the new sense of one expressions. In the example show the difference dialect beetwen a normal human and human in kingdom. The function of affective meaning is in this phrase show the emosion of poet who asking for his parent to teach him to always love each other. The function of reflected meaning is show the feeling of poet’s feture life who light like sunshine. The function of collocative meaning is was used with another adjective to express an emotion as in sentence above. So, the phrase “good voice” is more suitable for this context
