A Study on the structure of predication in bunaq language
ABSTRACT
This research is conducted under the title “A STUDY ON THE STRUCTURE OF PREDICATION IN BUNAQ LANGUAGE”. It was conducted to answer the following question: How is the structure of predication in Bunaq language?. The writer use descriptive qualitative research design. The writer collected information about the stucture of predication in Bunaq language through the bible especially in gospel Jonh 1-21. Then the writer identified and describe the patterns of this structure. Results of the study indicated that there are two elements existing in the structure of predication in Bunaq language: the subject and the predicate. The seven heads of predicate can be seen as follows: there are seven persons; the first person singular (Neto); the second person singular (Eto); the third person singular (baq’i); the first person plural (nei)/exclusive; the first person plural (I/inclusive); the second person plural (ei) and the third person plural (halaq’i). In Bunaq language when all the subject combined with the verb there are not inflection. the verb: Tekeq to See Neto Tekeq, Eto Tekeq, Baq,i Tekeq, Nei Tekeq, I Tekeq, Ei Tekeq Halaq,i Tekeq. The structure in bunaq language diffirent with other languages “Subject + Object + Predicate. Bunaq language question word is formulated “Question word + S + O + P”. as well as in Indonesian language and English language. In Bunaq language there are two phases the simple phases and the perfect phases. Unlike the English language have three aspects; the Bunaq language has two aspects: the simple and the durative. In English has two voices are the active voice and the passive voice. Like in English, the Bunaq language ect. Also has four statuses: affirmative, the negative, the interrogative, the interrogative negative. The pattern of structure of predication can be written as follows; Affirmative: SUBJECT + PREDICATE + or SUBJECT + OBJECT+ PREDICATE. Interrogative: QUESTION WORD + SUBJECT + VERB / PREDICATE +or SUBJECT + VERB / PREDICATE + QUESTION WORD Negative: SUBJECT+ VERB / PREDICATE + NIQ (neg)Negative interrogative: QUESTION WORD+SUBJECT + OBJECT+ VERB/ PREDICATE+ NIQ.
