An Analysis on language shift phenomenon of young uab meto speaking community in Bakunase II Are in Mileneal Era

ABSTRACT
The study discussed about “ An anaylisis on language shift phenomenon of young Uab Meto speaking community in Bakunase II area in mileneal era”. The aims of study in this research : To find out the factors that influenceof languange shift phenomenon of young Uab Meto Speaking Community In Bakunase II area in mileneal era and to find out the level of languange shift phenomenon towards to young Uab Meto speaking community in Bakunase II area in mileneal era. This research used descriptive qualitative method and collecting the data by interview and recording the conversation. There are 4 factors that influence languange shift . They are migration, bilingualism, numbers of speakers and intercultural marriage. Based on this writing, the writer found out that bilingual and numbers of speakers are the dominant factors that cause languange shifting in that area . In conclusion ,young Uab Meto at Bakunase II area generally categories in two degress of endangered: (1) definitely endangered because the young people no longer learn Uab Meto at home. Kupang is mostly spoken by them. (2) severelyendangered because the parents who knows about Uab Meto can’t speak it to their children.
