The Strategies Applied by english teacher in getting students to do homework at SMP Negeri Likwatang in Ademic year 2016/2017
ABSTRACT
The title of this writing is “The Strategies Applied by English Teacher in Getting Students to Do Homework at SMP Negeri Likwatang in Academic Year 2016/2017â€ÂÂ. This research is conducted to answer two research problems, namely 1) What are the strategies applied by English teacher in getting students to do homework at SMP Negeri Likwatang in academic year 2016/2017? 2) what are the purposes of strategies applied by English teacher in getting students to do homework at SMP Negeri Likwatang in academic year 2016/2017? The writer analyzes the data using descriptive qualitative method, by using questionnaire as the instrument. Data gained for this research was the answers of three teachers in which based on the questionnaire. The writer analyzed the questionnaire to find out whether the English Teacher in SMP Negeri Likwatang used the strategies in getting students to do homework suggested by Darling-Hamond and Ifill-Lynch (2006) in Memo and Marshall (2006:3) or not. It was concluded that the English teacher in SMP Negeri Likwatang applied the strategies in getting students to do homework such as assign work that is worthy of effort, make the work doable, find out what students need, create space and time for homework, make work public, and encourage collaboration. In applying these homework strategies, the teacher get some purposes by getting some explanation toward each of the homework strategy.
