A Descriptive Study on the Teaching Strategies Applied by Indonesian-Timor Leste Border Army in Teaching English at SD Negeri Turiskain in School Year 2016/2017
ABSTRACT
This study has been conducted under the title “ A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY ON THE TEACHING STRATEGIES APPLIED BY INDONESIAN – TIMOR LESTE BORDER ARMY IN TEACHING ENGLISH AT SD TURISKAIN IN SCHOOL YEAR 2016/2017 â€ÂÂ. The problems of research are what are the types strategies applied by Indonesian-Timor Leste border army in teaching English at SD Turiskain in school year 2016/2017 and how are the teaching strategies applied? Therefore, the aims of the study are to find out the types of strategies applied by Indonesian-Timor Leste border army in teaching English at SD Turiskain in school year 2016/2017 and describe how are the strategies applied. Data for the research was collected by instrument and observe two English teachers about the teaching strategies during one week in the learning process in the class. Data obtained are analyzed using descriptive qualitative method. The result showed that from the seven strategies of learning, the first teacher only used four strategies those are brainstorming, demonstration,case based small group discussion, and games. Then, the second teacher only used three strategies those are brainstorming, case based small group discussion and games, except demonstration. Based on the result of this study, the writer conclude that the both teacher use the four strategies to make student understand about the material which to should allow students to actively participate in English learning process. The strategies used in teaching learning process are so simple but students enjoy and try hard to understand well about English
