The Interference of Amanuban Dialect to English to English Pronunciation of the Second Grade Students At SMA Negeri Benlutu
ABSTRACT
This thesis is under the title : “The Interference of Amanuban Dialect to English Pronunciation of the second grade students at SMA Negeri Benlutu in the Academic Year 2015/2016â€ÂÂ. The research has been driven byone research question : “ How does Amanuban Dialect Phonologically Interfere English Pronunciation on the second grade students at SMA Negeri Benlutu in the Academic Year 2015/2016 ?â€ÂÂ. The research support by Mulkam ( 1987 : 40 ) who stated that the interference of mother tongue towards English Pronunciation and patternscan not be avoided when English is learned as a second foreign language. Descriptive Qualitative method was used in the research. Subject of the study was second grade students at SMA Negeri Benlutu in the Academic Year 2015/2016. The result ofthis study indicated that the second grade students of SMA Negeri Benlutu could not pronounced any English vowels exactly, but they repressed in the sound with general vowels in Amanuban dialect, this is happen because in Amanuban dialect there are any words that have long vocal sound and they still gave visible stress on the Amanuban dialect. And the students also had difficult to pronounced consonant words such as: velars, alveolar, labiodentals and palate. furthermore to one syllabic or two sylabis words and for the consonant sounds, the students still faced problem in pronounciation when the consonant letter is posted at the end of words with two syllabels. This happen because of the stress pattern they used. They missed the consonant sound our or they pronounced it unclearly and also the students encountered problem in pronouncing consonant vowels.
