The term plankton is a generic term. Plankton includes living organisms floating or drifting in the pelagic area. The term plankton is derived from the Greek word meaning wanderer (Arinardi et al., 1997). Phytoplankton are free floating planktonic plants and drifting in the sea and able to photosynthesize. Phytoplankton have chlorophyll to be able to photosynthesize, produce organic compounds such as carbohydrates and oxygen, Kase (2001), states that chlorophyll is the green pigment granules which are in sub-cellular organelles, the small plastids or chloroplasts, chlorophyll overall there are four forms of chlorophyll a, b, c, and d. Absorbance is an example expressed in function of wavelength. In the calculation of the spectrophotometer, when the light (monochromatic or mixed) falls in a homogeneous medium, a portion of the incoming rays are reflected, some is absorbed, and the rest is forwarded. Value out of the light transmitted expressed in the absorbance value because of its links with the chlorophyll concentration samples. In Kupang city waters there are many fishing fleet Stationary Lift Nets scattered in the village of Pasir Panjang, Oesapa and Lasiana. Fish catches are Stationary Lift Nets is determined by the condition of the aquatic environment and the food chain that formed as a result of the presence of phytoplankton and other primary producers located in coastal ecosystems. In other words, the productivity of a body of water that is closely related to the impact of the abundance of phytoplankton pigment photosynthesize role in determining the role of phytoplankton as food for fish. This research has been carried out during October and November 2016. The research sites in the Gulf waters in Kupang namely Oesapa and Lasiana Water Bodies, in Depth of 0.15, 2 and 4 meters. For testing water samples conducted at the Laboratory of Biology, University of Nusa Cendana Kupang. Determined station I was in waters Oesapa and stasuin II is housed in the waters Lasiana. The procedure consists of studies in the field research and testing of samples in the laboratory. Absorbance values of chlorophyll a in the two sites showed a similar pattern, which is increasingly to water layer in an absorbance value is higher, except in depth 2 m. In waters Oesapa inversely proportional to the absorbance of chlorophyll b where the value absorbnsi not directly proportional to the depth of the water.
